We examined Vietnam War history, tactics and home sentiments. This Lego guy got booby trapped.

We also made lotus flowers, the national flower of Vietnam.

At the helicopter center, we taught about the different kinds and functions of each helicopter used in the Vietnam war and built one of the models of the kids’ choosing.

This actual Vietnam uniform was donated.

We discussed camouflage: from the 1940s until how it is used today.

We explained the Korean War, and they ran through the boot camp obstacle course.

China: We talked about Mao’s little red book and discussed the BLM movement’s connection to it today. One of the parents talked about the one-child rule and her experience adopting her child from China.

At the center about China’s relationship with Taiwan and Hong Kong, one of the parents talked about her sister’s experience living in Hong Kong, the history of China’s relationship with the two countries, and why Hong Kong and Taiwan want to be independent from China, along with the latest headlines of what is happening there currently. 

The kids had milk tea and tangerines.
