As we continued our studies of the 1900s, we took a day to explore WWI. One topic was trench warfare and the use of tanks. The children made trench cakes and trenched in the sandbox. The kids also made periscopes and got to try on a gas mask.

We had a center that explored the importance and history of radio communication. We continued airplane history and the use of biplanes in WWI and learned about the zeppelin.

The kids learned about the use of ships and submarines in WWI.

They made camouflage “dazzle” ships. 

We ended the day with a Barnum and Bailey Circus 

and Houdini show.
